Surprise, surprise!
This box figurine depicting a cat bursting out of a birthday cake celebrates the return of David Lawrence to the Kingdom and the uncanny coincidences that lead to his reunion with Martin Perry. It was about the time of his daughter Rose’s ninth birthday in February 2002 when the two crossed paths at the Spring Fair in Birmingham. And the final prototype of this delightful piece was approved around the time of younger daughter Katie’s third birthday.

To mark these happy coincidences, the artist’s trademark acorn makes a surprise appearance as the interior carving.
