After graduating from the Carnegie Institute Andy Warhol moved to New York and worked as a commercial artist. He had his first group show at MOMA in 1956 and by appropriating images from pop culture, the next decade would be his most prolific. His paintings, such as the Campbell's Soup Can and screen prints of Marilyn Monroe remain icons of 20th-century art.
